Each platform adds its own service fees, deposits and protection charges at checkout, so the total you pay there will differ from booking with us directly.
All reservations of Hale Akaʻula require a minimum 31-day rental agreement under Hawaiʻi County law. Your agreement always covers the full rental period, and the home is reserved exclusively for you for its entire term — even if your travel plans have you arriving late or departing early. If your plans change and you'd like to extend within your agreement period, just let us know. Extra guests require prior approval (and preparation of the home) and will be stated as part of your rental agreement, so please share an accurate guest count when you request your stay.

Under Hawaiʻi County law we can't offer reservations shorter than 31 days — every rental agreement covers at least a full month, and the home is exclusively yours for that entire period. If your travel window is shorter, send us your dates anyway: the agreement will still be written for 31 days, and all details will be spelled out in your rental agreement.
Yes, the caretaker of the home can do weekly cleaning ( wash & change bed linens, sweep, etc). Please let us know if you're interested in regular cleaning service during your stay.

Essentials are ready for you on arrival — toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, and the basics. When you land, you can head straight to Hale Akaʻula, or stop by the market for food and be set until you figure out what you want and need. Many guests like to stop at Costco on the way; the house caretaker can tell you what's already stocked (seasonings and the like). If you have specific questions, just ask.
Yes. There are beach chairs, umbrellas / tents, camp chairs, table, sand toys, and some outdoor gear (daypack) for hikes and other outdoor activities.
